The doctors mess is reasonable size with a couple microwaves hot water free tea and coffee machine (50p for coffee but is bean to cup). Large fridge for lunch storage. Beds are available, often occupied though! Toast, jam and biscuits with occasion fruit in the mess. A full sized table tennis table and nintendo switch, complete with controllers and...More
Lots of car parking is available.
Electronic, new transition to EPIC in June 2022
Buses run every 15 minutes to/from the hospital and Slough Station. Last bus is at ~9/9:30 pm, which can be a bit of a pain after out-of-hours shifts. Buses also offer staff discount.
Canteen not open overnight Food is generally not that great in the canteen imo Couple of coffee shops with a sandwich bar during main working hours but not evening / overnight or weekend

I'm an IMT trainee at Wexham. The rota is fairly okay for me, but my counterparts at Cornwall have lesser hours than me. But we get compensated in pay. Excellent senior support, who will ask for escalated shift for rota gaps from the management. Some depts don't give SL, AL and are very understaffed - Cardio, Resp. So that's something you'll e ...More
I'd heard bad things about Wexham before starting in 2021, and whilst it may have been a struggling hospital in the past, that is very much not the case any more. I did my first year of IMT there. Firstly, the emergency department is excellent. Very large, plenty of computers, excellent resus. Generally well run by the ED team. Of course this h ...More
F2 Experience. Good department who are keen to teach if you show interest in surgery/orthopaedics. Whilst no formal scheduled time for theatre, day to day ward work is generally quite manageable (when well staffed) so you can easily pop down on a quieter afternoon and get involved. Consultants are very enthusiastic and lots of opportunities for lea ...More
Department is okay, registrars are mostly lovely and keen to teach, consultants (aside from one or two who are gems!) are largely quite indifferent and don't bother to learn your name, can be quite patronising, lots of departmental politics; standard gen surg department I guess. It's a busy DGH so oncalls are highly stressful and unsupported as re ...More
Locum SHO in ED. Overall, very much enjoyed my time here. Pros: - New ED opened in 2019, so the building is very much fit for purpose. - There is a separate staff hub with lots of space and computers to document. - Lots of cubicles to see patients. Each cubicle is equipped with its own computer, ENT trolley, ophthalmoscope etc. (small things l ...More
