Canteen on site is ridiculously overpriced, meals coming in at £6+ Doctor's mess is old and stuffy - has a TV, seating and cheap board games.
Parking situation is awful - £1.50 per day and very little space to park.
They use CPD which is possibly the worst system in existence. Electronic prescribing except fluids Paper notes Prescribing, imaging system and bloods/pathology under a single system
Public transport is incredibly slow owing to being one of the busiest places in U.K. for tourism.
Costa + Branded canteen + Hospital shop (e.g. corner shop style) No hot food service out of hours.
Very expensive to live and most doctors are forced to rent a room which is a sad indictment of where wages and cost of living is these days. Traffic is like London - can take 30 mins to travel 1-2 miles in rush hour. City is pretty and very different to rest of Yorkshire. Lots of cafes, restaurants, history to explore. Aprox 2hr train journey t...More
Really poor place to work. The new ED was built recently but most of the staff working here longer say the old one was actually better. The New ED consists of very nice rooms and corridors like something out of a TV Drama. The problem is that there aren't enough of them. As a doctor seeing majors patients, you're fighting with each other for 1 'see ...More
Very little support. Racism from both staff and patients. Very little training opportunities. No clinic time as the PAs/ACPs are always prioritised. Some of the senior registrars involved in the mess + JDF are also very obstructive when trying to make change. They side with the trust and bully anyone that is pro-doctor.
The nursing staff, sisters and ward managers are amazing. They do all the procedures and will prepare equipment if they want you to do a procedure. I have never worked with a friendlier team. The consultants are also lovely and keen to teach. They understand that it can get quite busy so will always ask if you are okay. The PAs get prioritised over ...More
I found the majority of consultants to be quite supportive. Was able to see patients at my own pace without feeling rushed. The registrars were extremely supportive and keen to help. Some consultants were bullies and would pressure you into seeing patient in unsafe conditions. Most nurses and HCAs do the bloods/cannulas but you usually have to take ...More
Literally one of the worst places I've ever been to in my life (and this includes voluntary work at poor areas in India). Consultants are present but are annoyed as soon as you ask them a question despite the fact I've never worked there so why would I know all the answers. As a doctor you're expected to change bedding in the see and treat areas an ...More
