Absolute joke of a department and "training" rotation. Turned up on changeover day with no departmental induction and then proceeded straight into the ward round - no organised induction over this rotation. I’m summary, this is a very varied experience based on your interest and grade. Ward is mainly general medicine patients of very varying presentations, some quite unwell so you gain confidence quickly especially out of hours. Variable quality of SpRs and consultants supervising. You did get a good overview of management of most of acute diabetes and generally unwell patients however no endocrine exposure. Minimal teaching. No opportunity to go to clinics etc. Probably better support and supervision out of hours from always available and approachable medical SpRs. Out ...More
Terrible rota coordinators and medical staffing who will not answer emails or answer the phone. Rota is heavy with on calls/weekends No bedside teaching or teaching sessions from the dept, the consultants are nice enough but rotate through the ward so nobody takes ownership of the ward.
