One mess with 3 computers, 2 phones, 2 sofas and no bean bags. 2 Microwaves for food and a kettle. TV with sky subscription mostlsy showing sports.
Plenty of car parking on-site. Obviously costly as per the NHS. One car park is a patch of land that is lit up until ?6pm but after that is pitch black so best to avoid during on-calls though there have been no issues with safety at all that I.m aware of, just creepy

Co-op and Subway are a 5 min walk from the hospital.
Leafy part of macclesfield, 15 min walk to town centre with several nice restaurants
Good workload for a surgical rotation, the main discriminator for an enjoyable placement is the consultant you work under. Each consultant has a foundation doctor and registrar and rounds every day. If interested in surgery there is time to attend theatre if you look for it.
Good department, Consultant ward round three times a week with teaching as you go if you're interested. Cover a ward mixed with endocrinology patients so workload varies based on current patients on the ward. Also cover adjacent 4-bed CCU. Downside is no Cath lab but this is similar to other DGH's. Also on ocassional days the foundation doctor may ...More
Chronically understaffed ward with very sick patients, very high workload and not enough senior support. Not uncommon to have one F1 covering the whole ward of 27 patients. The consultant of the week will generally see half of the patients on the ward one day, and the other half the next day, then go off to do clinics/endoscopy lists for most of th ...More
The Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) is a friendly, well-supported ward. It’s often very well staffed with multiple consultants, nurse practitioners and junior doctors. The consultants are very willing to teach- FY1s even get to do procedures such as lumbar punctures and ascitic drains. Nurses on the ward are very competent and will do bloods, cannula ...More
