Foundation Programme Year Two (FY2)
General Psychiatry
My placement was a mix of community and on-calls at Harplands. On-calls were generally busy. Nurses are quite incompetent skill-wise (endless bloods) but excellent in psychiatry. ZERO senior resident support in-hours but easily accessible and friendly seniors available for advice over the phone. Lots of useless protocols and unnecessary tests. Medical staffing is wholly incompetent and clueless - we were all double rota'd for the last day of the placement and only received the rota a few days before we were due to start despite being escalated multiple times Lots of really high quality teaching. Encouraged to undertake projects/audits etc.
