Not a lot in the actual MHU There is a volunteer shop with snacks and newspapers etc, a few rooms upstairs with computers in which are good for doing paperwork/portfolio if you need a break from the ward which are shared with the SpRs and trainees. No aircon so very very warm in summer (usually fan's in the MDT rooms for ward rounds thankfully).
Parking in shared with the main hospital - theres a huge multistorey shared with pts, or sneaky staff parking close to the MHU/education centre but this fills up quite quickly in the mornings. Salary sacrifice permit parking for staff (£10/month but currently in talks as planning to increase a ridiculous amount)
Uses separate system from the main hospital for notes - all electronic thankfully! Not able to request bloods/images electronically - paper forms available for both and need to ensure someone takes them to the correct place in the main hospital (often easier to do these just before you go for lunch/go home and drop yourself as have had bloods haem...More
Coast 2 Coast train from East London stops as Basildon Station, about 15 min walk (uphill) from the hospital. Buses seem to come regularly to hospital bus stop but not sure where they go after that...
